Canal and River Trust – Emma Fitzpatrick sketching along the River Soar (YouTube, 2020)

This video was commissioned by the Canal and River Trust, in collaboration with The Big Draw, to highlight the River Soar in Leicester and encourage more people to enjoy the canals. I was invited to take part because my work as an artist involves outdoor painting and sketching, and I have exhibited locally, actively engaging with the community.

I worked closely with the team and Moore Productions (Matt Moore) to capture my urban sketching process along the river. The video demonstrates my approach to cityscape sketching, working outdoors, and translating the environment into drawings in real time, while spotlighting the canals as a vibrant public space.
